Michelle Schimek and her horse Deizel, along with Kathy Sasik and her horse Guy have been approved into the Courage Rider program. The approval process is very detailed and the program is a wonderful opportunity for children facing challenges and special needs to enjoy horses. They have been to (2) sessions and Deizel and Guy are new heroes. Congratulations and thank you for taking the time to give back.

Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest Parade

June 20th

I am happy to report that our Parade went very smooth and without a hitch.
Riding in the parade was: Myself (Rex), Samantha Kent, Maria Lubich (with her cart), Amy Rastetter, Julia Northwick, Tony Sanders, Chandler Sanders, Maria Schimek, Michelle Carlson and Kristen Digiulio.

Mary Strohfus brought her gator and Mary, Michelle Schimek and Monica Sanders passed out candy and were the official poop-scoopers. (Always a parade favorite)

Of course, what would a parade be without horse glitter? There was plenty of that and ribbons while Amy flew the colors and Julia wore her Royalty clothes.

My thanks to all of you for taking the time out of your weekend to show up and represent Trail Riders.

Her daughter Stephanie, son-in-law Troy and grandchildren Tate and Alexis made the big trip down to join them and to participate in our show. As true Dorsey’s, the kid’s rode like they were born on a horse.

40 years of bliss and rode haulin’!

Congrats Bud and Cora, our club salutes you and wishes you many more Horsey Dorsey years!

Harmony Arco is currently working at Village Creek Bible Camp, which is near Lansing, Iowa. The area is called 'little Switzerland' because of the deep valleys and steep hills. It is beautiful and near the Mississippi River. She will be working with the horses and helping people learn to ride, and of course taking them on trail rides through the valleys, over hills and along ridges. She is planning on being here for the county fair, but then back down there til the end of August.

What a wonderful experience for Harmony; we will miss seeing her this summer. Congratulations and God bless Harmony.

Sometimes, it’s all good and sometimes there are ups and downs, or as in Katie Stewarts case; on and offs. Katie participated in the May 30th Cancer Benefit show at Washington Cty Fairgrounds. She is currently working Cindy Rowe’s 4 yr old Charlie and brought her along. She made it threw poles and then something happened..she’s off. Charlie threw Katie and Katie ended up in the hospital with a concussion. Doc says 3 weeks – No Riding. I’m betting the doc is wishful thinking. On the brighter side, Katie’s new mare and foal arrived yesterday!

Kasey Stewart ran barrels at the High school Rodeo in Pine City. Kasey was thrilled as her horse went in the gate all weekend and Kasey piled on 8 more points in her runs. Congrats Kasey!

Chandler Sanders also rode in the Cancer Benefit Show this weekend. Chandler took 1st place in her barrel class. Chandler has been working hard on her horse and it shows; Congrats Chandler.

New member Emma Phillips attended her first big horse show; the WSCA Royalty Show in North Branch. Emma rode in her first Lead Line Class partnered by Sammy Kent. Sporting matching outfits atop Sock-A-Jo-Wee-A, Emma received a 3rd place metal, a bling crown and matching ear rings. Way to Go Emma!

The Kent’s attended the WSCA Royalty Show in North Branch. Samantha had a great day finishing 1st in Key, Barrels and Jump Fiq 8. She was the Reserve High Point Champion. I rode in a slightly less competitive class of 35+ and by some new math and no-knock runs, I ended up with a beautiful pink WSCA Hi-Point Chair. I know..go figure. Way to go Sammy! Jenifer did not ride in the show, but she did ride her 3yr old “Sky” again on Sunday. Jenifer will be showing pleasure classes once Sky comes home. She is very excited.

We received a troubling text message from Maddie Rowe late yesterday and Sammy confirmed in conversation with Maddie that she did indeed fracture a bone in her arm Sunday. Maddie was riding Firecracker in the pasture when her horse spooked and Maddie landed wrong. The Doc says, no hockey or horses for 3 weeks..once again..I’ll beleive that when I see it. All our thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery Maddie.

The Clymer Kids were another (2) show Memorial Weekend performing family. They attended the Houck Barrel Jackpot where they brought home more money than they put in; as long as you count the $3.00 that DeNeila found. Eddie took 1st in 3D open class and a 2nd in 3D youth. DeNeila placed 3rd in 4D Open, Tommy took a 4th in 4D Youth and Big Sister Clarissa took home a 1st and 2nd in the 3D Open runs. After that, they hustled down to Deadbroke; hung out with the TRSC riders and rode together in 4-in-line, taking a 4th. The family competition has really tightened up this year. Congratulations C-Crew!

The Rygh family had a busy Memorial Weekend attending two shows; the Downsville Game Show and the Scandia Saddle Club Game Show.

In Downsville, our little Buckaroo, Jacob, took home the 10 and under High Point Award while sister Maria and Summer placed 3rd in Jackpot Barrels.

At the Deadbroke Arena, Jacob and Bailey once again took home the 10 and under Hi-Point Award ( there seems to be a pattern here), while Maria won the 1D Jackpot Barrel Run on Summer. Mike also rode Summer at Deadbroke while Maria worked with her new horse; Mike took home the Reserve Hi-Pont for his class.

Well done Ryghs.. Congratulations on all the success.

Rowe-Bauer Rides Again

At the Scandia Saddle Club Memorial Day Fun Show, Maddie Rowe rode her mom’s horse Dash to a first place ribbon in Speed Dash. Maddie’s time would have been first in all age divisions. What a sight! Cindy, although humble with her comments, pulled out a few 1st and second place ribbons of her own at the show…on Dash. And her daughter Lindsey Bauer, on Dancer, was the 18-34 Hi-Point Champion for the show. (It was Lance-Luck) Jenna Bauer and her horse Ada were also there giving big sister a run for the ribbons. Congratulations to all you gals.

Ginny Larson spent Memorial Day at a horse show guest judging as she applies for her Judges card. Ginny shadows the Show Judge and is able to offer her input, comments and meet the riders, spectators and club personnel. Ginny enjoys the graceful movers in a pleasure class as much as a flawless run in a game class.

She’s also getting better at “dusting” herself off. Good luck Ginny!
